Problem :
From an 11-call scramble to a one-tap dispatch.
When a corer calls in sick, someone has to find a replacement — fast. Independent Australian home care agencies still do this by phone, working down a list one number at a time. A single unfilled shift can take eleven calls to cover, and the clock is always against the coordinator. Roughly one in five visits is cancelled outright because no replacement is found in time. The people who miss out are older Australians who depend on that visit for medication, mobility, and company. And in the rush, the thing that matters most to them gets ignored: being cared for by someone they already know.
Challenge :
Automating this couldn't mean cutting corners. Health information in Australia sits under the Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles, on a HIPAA-grade security floor. Every automated decision had to be explainable and auditable, no clinical detail could be stored as free text, and the system had to keep working safely even when third-party services — like external mapping — weren't cleared for use.
Solution :
Home-Care-AI turns the phone cascade into a single approval. A multi-gate triage engine scores every available carer on qualifications, proximity, and — weighted highest — how well the client already knows and trusts them. It hands the coordinator a ranked shortlist of the top three, ready to dispatch in a few taps. The moment one is chosen, notifications go out in the right order, and every step is written to an audit trail before anything is sent.
Summary :
Coordinators fill shifts in taps instead of calls, clients stay with carers they trust, and fewer visits fall through. Compliance is built into the architecture rather than bolted on: structured-only medical data, an audit entry ahead of every action, and distance logic that resolves locally when external maps aren't approved. The outcome is a coordinator's console clear enough that a regulator could read it end to end.
